Many of our historic buildings and spaces are free to enter and explore. Others are home to shops, bars and restaurants, or are accessible with a Portsmouth Historic Dockyard ticket.

Boathouse 4

Boathouse 4 is our boatbuilding, restoration, operation and volunteering centre. The boathouse is free to enter, and its restaurant does a cracking cheesy hammy eggy.

Boathouse 7 was built as a mast house and now hosts the Dockyard's largest restaurant, the Dockyard Apprentice exhibition and Nauticalia.

Porter's Lodge

Porter’s Lodge

The oldest surviving building in Portsmouth Naval Base now hosts local artist Lizzie Cornelius' workspace and shop.

BH6 across Mast Pond

The Mast Pond

The oldest surviving Dockyard construction, the Mast Pond dates from 1665. Its water level is managed using an underground tunnel and hydraulic lock gates.

The Old Pay Office is now home to an experimental creative space.

This former case store at Priddy's Hard in Gosport is now The Powder Monkey Taphouse, serving beers brewed onsite at E Magazine.

Shifting House

Adventure Prospect, our Priddy's Hard holiday accommodation, is based in this former Shifting House overlooking the Camber Dock and Basin.

This former gunpowder store with its six-foot thick walls provides maintains the perfect temperature for brewing beer, and now hosts the Powder Monkey microbrewery.

The Camber Basin served as a loading/unloading point for the Priddy's Hard ordnance yard, equipped with two cranes and railings.

We are working to transform the previously unused Carpenters' Yard at Priddy's Hard in Gosport into a hub of creativity.

The 18th century earthwork ramparts at Priddy's Hard served as defensive fortifications for Portsmouth Harbour and the Royal Dockyard.

Boathouse 6 was built from 1845 as a hub for boat building and repair. It now hosts the No.6 Cinema and Action Stations: Commando Experience.

Our 200 year-old Guard House is connected to the Dockyard wall, and now serves as office space.

The first of three large Georgian storehouses, Storehouse 11 now contains museum galleries and library.

19 College Road

Built in 1908 to accommodate the Superintendent of Police, this three storey brick building is now our Head Office.

Victory Gallery

Victory Gallery

Built between the First and Second World Wars, Victory Gallery was specifically designed to house HMS Victory artefacts.

A Magazine (Gosport) 266

A Magazine

Also known as the Grand Magazine, this astonishing building with buttressed walls and a vaulted roof was constructed in 1770 for the storage of gunpowder.

B Magazine, originally two separate structures, evolved over time to meet the needs of the ordnance yard. It now hosts Explosion Museum galleries.

C Magazine (Gosport) 246

C Magazine

C Magazine was constructed to receive ammunition from ships, with the earth traverse serving as protection. Following restoration, it now serves as a volunteer base.

P Building internal PT SUR 16

Mines and Countermines Store

Also known as Building P, this building was constructed for the storage of harbour defence mines, and is now home to The Night Hunters Coastal Forces Exhibition.
